How to set up emails for Card Issuer

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this course, you will learn the whole process how to set up automated emails for cards issued through a specific NCDB Card Issuer.

As prerequisities to this course, please take a look at our course “Marketing Manager

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKFLOW

This course covers the case when you want to send an email for all cards that were issued by a specific NCDB Card Issuer (for this course, let’s call this Card Issuer for example “University X“). How the workflow runs is described below and it is also illustrated by the schema.

A card is issued by University X in NCDB

Data about this card (including name of its Card Issuer – University X) and the Cardholder are transferred from NCDB into Marketing Manager

In Marketing Manager, the cardholder is assigned into a Segment based on Card Issuer’s name

To all cards that are in the segment, a customized email (including for example some special branding, logos, text, etc.) can be sent.

CREATING EMAIL

When you want to create a new email, log into Marketing Manager and go into Channels -> Emails. In the top right corner, please click the “+” button. As email type, select “New Template Email”. This type of emails can be sent out by a campaign.

As a next step, create your email. You can use one of the prepared email templates or you can create your email “from scratch” writing it in HTML.

For detailed information how to create an email, please have a look at our course “Marketing Manager

CREATING SEGMENT

Second step is creating a Segment, into which all cards issued by University X will be pulled. To do so, go into Segments and once you’re in, click the “+” sign in top right corner. Give your segment a name (let’s say it will be called “Segment X”) and hit the “Filters” tab. From the available filters (which you can find in the drop-down menu), select “Card Issuer Name” and “Card Issued On” and set the filters as (see the picture below).

“Card Issuer Name equals [name of your Card Issuer]”

CREATING CAMPAIGN

Campaigns are one of the core functions of Marketing Manager. Basically, their function is to send emails, but they can do much more things. For detailed understanding how campaigns work and how to construct them, please have a look at our course “Marketing Manager”. Here, we will focus only on a campaign constructed for sending emails for cards issued by University X. In Marketing Manager, go to Campaigns and click the “+” sign to create new campaign. Give it a name (Campaign X for example) and click “Launch Campaign Builder” which takes you into visual studio where you can create your campaign easily. In the builder, select “Contact segments” as a source and select Segment X (this is our segment we have defined earlier in this course). By this, it is defined that only contacts from this segment enter the campaign.
