Promo codes

COURSE DESCRIPTION
If you want to start using promo codes for your discount providers within the Alive App, in this course, we will show you how to create and manage promo codes. The prerequisite for this course is a course related to discounts provided to discount providers. https://gtsalive.atlassian.net/l/cp/ULPhV9mT

Setting Up a Discount

First and foremost, setting up on the discount provider's side is necessary. In case you want to add new promo codes into Discount Manager, please go to the detail of your desired discount and mark the checkbox “Use promo codes”

You can select whether the promo codes will be generic (the same for all customers) all unique (each customer has different).

As a next step, when the checkbox is selected, you will see “Edit promo codes” button in the detail of the discount:

To create a promo code, you need to fill in the following fields as shown in the image:

  1. Valid from – the date when the promo code becomes active

  2. Valid to – the date when the promo code expires

  3. Promo code – the actual text code that users will apply

  4. How many users can get the promo code – the maximum number of users who can claim the promo code (optional)

How promo codes work in the Alive Platform

Here’s a simplified overview of how promo codes work in the Alive Platform:

  1. First, set up a discount provider and a discount in the Discount Manager.
Make sure the provider is marked as public, so the discount can be visible in the Alive App.

  2. Next, enable promo codes for the selected discount (see screenshots above).

  3. Then, add the actual promo codes you want to offer to users.

  4. Once everything is correctly set up, customers will see a “Generate promo code” button when viewing the discount in the Alive App.

  5. After clicking the button, the promo code is generated and at the same moment, automatically sent to the user's email.

Please note that this is where the promo code process ends within the Alive Platform – the generated promo codes are not exported to Benefit Manager or any other system.

Promo codes from Benefit manager

Alive App fully supports the use and online verification of voucher codes from the international discount database, known as BM2. This allows users to redeem discounts using voucher codes directly in the app.

Voucher codes for a given discount can be created and imported directly into BM2 according to their guidelines. Once set up, Alive App is compatible with the following formats for voucher codes:

STRING

This is the basic format, which can be either alphanumeric (text or numbers). It's often used for simple promo codes or coupon codes.

QR Code

A popular choice for ease of scanning, particularly in physical stores or at events. Users can easily scan the QR code within Alive App to validate their discount.

Barcode (Code 39 and Code 128)

These are two widely recognized formats for barcodes. Code 39 is a simpler format that supports both numbers and uppercase letters, while Code 128 allows for a more compact barcode and can represent a wider range of characters.

The voucher codes, once imported into BM2, will be seamlessly available in Alive App for use by end-users. For more detailed instructions on creating and importing voucher codes, please refer to the official BM2 documentation.
